CLUTTER .... that stuff that creeps in on you unaware .... the socks that multiply and divide in the laundry .... the "good causes" you become involved in and then find you get to keep all the stuff you couldn't get rid of .... The family thing .... moving in .... moving out and they never take all their stuff ... Each trip back means a few more boxes get left behind .... and sometimes pets .... SIGH!! .....
Parents who were born and raised during the great depression ... impressed upon young minds the need to NEVER THROW ANYTHING AWAY .... you might need it someday .... Or the "Don't throw it away .... there are a lot of poor folks who would give their right arm to have "that" ..... and HOARDING was born!! .......
Somewhere in this journey.... there has to be a sense of humor .... along with a "Snoopy " exclaimation of "GOOD GREIF!!!" ..... only .. sigh ... I wouldn't exactly call this type of grief good .... exasperating yes .... overwhelming obviously, ..... discouraging somewhat ..... I lost sight of my "mole hill" years ago and the next time I looked it was a mountianous mound of STUFF that I had no idea what to do with or the energy to dismantle ..... All said and done it was designated to a "spare room" ..... then another "spare room" .... only problem was there were people mixed in with this "clutter" I HAD PEOPLE & ANIMAL CLUTTER" ......
People CLUTTER is where you "collect" people .... not because you thnk about it .... it just kind of happens .... then the animals .... same thing .... YOU SEE A NEED, YOU CALCULATE THE "SPARE AREAS" IN YOUR HOUSE ...... sigh .... you think "I have room" ..... then you open mouth and invite them in ...... WAAAH-LAAAA .... they come with stuff .... they take up room and they never leave with all of it .... So ... you keep it for them hoping they will come back after it someday .... (animals come with fur, fur and dust bunnies love each other ..... so you get extra hairy dust bunnies .... LONG HAIRED DUST BUNNIES ..... and an assortment of other stuff ..... )
It's not easy for Babyboomers to throw stuff away, were the generation from 1946 to 1964. Our parents were considered the Tradionalists 1945 and before .... Our parents were WW1 & WW2 babies .... and grew up when you didn't throw things away ..... Our generation grew up hearing "Don't throw it away we can fix it or someone may need it ..... Our kids grew up among junk room's, boxes and storage areas full of treasure hunts ......
